Job Responsibilities

As a hands-on Data Analyst in the data team, you will support teams across the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), a unit under Tripartite Alliance Limited (TAL). You will gather business and data requirements, prepare well-defined datasets/views, and deliver trusted insights through SQL queries, reports, and dashboards. Working closely with stakeholders and the data team, you will strengthen data quality, streamline recurring reporting, and improve/automate data processing workflows where appropriate, while handling sensitive personal and government-sourced data in line with organisational policies.

Experience with Denodo (or similar data virtualisation platforms) is an advantage; if not, a willingness to learn and explore is welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Engage TAFEP teams to understand and document business processes and reporting needs; translate them into clear data definitions and technical specifications for datasets, reports, and dashboards.
  • Build and maintain strong knowledge of TAFEP datasets, data definitions, and end-to-end data flows across source systems and the reporting/analytics platform.
  • Partner stakeholders to define KPIs and success measures; design, build, and iterate dashboards using appropriate BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Develop, optimise, and maintain SQL queries and reusable datasets/views for reporting; perform data validation and reconcile results with business owners to ensure accuracy and consistency. Where applicable, work with a semantic layer/data virtualisation tool (e.g., Denodo/VQL or equivalent).
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer operational and policy questions; clearly communicate findings, assumptions, and limitations.
  • Maintain documentation such as metric definitions, report logic, and data dictionaries to support consistent interpretation and self-serve reporting.
  • Troubleshoot data and reporting issues end-to-end, conduct basic root-cause analysis, and coordinate with relevant parties for timely resolution.
  • Plan and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test scenarios, coordinating execution, tracking issues, and supporting business sign-off prior to release.
  • Drive adoption by coaching stakeholders on dashboards and basic querying; develop and maintain clear user guides and documentation. Exposure to Denodo/VQL is a bonus; if not, willingness to learn and explore is welcomed.
  • Ensure data handling, access, and reporting processes comply with organisational policies and applicable requirements, including PDPA (for TAL-managed personal data) and, where handling government-sourced data, the Public Sector (Governance) Act (PSGA) and relevant official information security/classification and data sharing requirements (e.g., need-to-know access and secure handling).
  • Identify opportunities to automate and standardise recurring data processing and reporting workflows (e.g., scheduling, reconciliation, and data quality checks) in partnership with the data team and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Proficient in handling large datasets with a strong focus on data integrity.
  • Good understanding of data flows, data governance concepts, and how reports/dashboards are produced from source systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches and to coordinate with vendors/partners when needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and at least one BI/reporting platform (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent), including dashboard design and data storytelling.
  • Strong SQL capability (e.g., PostgreSQL or equivalent), including query optimisation and basic data modelling. Knowledge of VQL and/or Denodo (or similar data virtualisation tools) is a bonus; otherwise, willingness to learn and explore is welcomed.
  • Nice to have: experience with scripting or analytics languages (e.g., Python or R) for automation, analysis, or data preparation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and prioritise effectively to meet tight deadlines.
